HOW are we done with September?!?!?!
It's September 30th and I don't even know how I got here.
Disclaimer, I say like a lot, use the word fuck way too much, and go on a lot of digressions. Have fun!
The Chaos Collection is a once monthly collection of the chaos in my life.
I will share what I’ve been reading that month, what I’ve been watching, what I’ve been listening to (books AND music), how the book is going, and any other random shit that I can think of lol
September 2024
Well this fucking month flew! Between finding a new job, doing random gig work here and there, lu at school, and D’s store almost opened…October snuck up on me!!!!
September went by so fast I feel like I didn’t accomplish a whole lot but IDK Without further ado, here is the Chaos Collection for September 2024
Lil Lulu update
School is back in full swing and I do feel like more things are right with the world. From the gym, to the roads in the town, to the fucking weather and radio stations lol I swear there is this HUGE energy shit once school is back in full swing. We have finished our first full month of Kindergarten and so far it is going well! We are working hard with Lu to help support her through not sucking her thumb, speaking up for herself, literally (she’s a quiet kid sometimes), and to be more assertive. While she did Pre-K at the same school, they were very isolated.
Now she’s with the rest of the school and with that comes allllll the school things like the lunch room and “friends” not acting the way friends should, AND forgetting our lunch box lol But she’s doing really well overall and has been pulled to start doing all of the Gifted and Talented testing. Normally I wouldn’t be all super pumped about this, but we live in Oklahoma….. 49th in education. SHE NEEDS to be in the gifted programs. Otherwise she’s gunna be bored out of her fucking mind (ask me how I know lol). I’m very excited to see how those results turn out, as during her initial school wide testing she was scoring 98% above the national average for language and 95% in Math.
Yall I was a gifted kid and so was Lucy’s dad…. we weren’t that smart though lol I’m a little scared haha But regardless she is happy and healthy and loving swim and getting so good at words. She is pure joy!
Moving On
What Did I Read in September:
I found this new app…. it’s basically cliff notes but better. So I didn’t actually read ALL of these front to back butttttt I still learned at HUGE amount. FYI the app is called Story Shots. Highly recommend it.
The Five Second Rule - Mel Robbins
Full Honesty, I love Mel Robbins vibe. If she’s a horrible person; well then that sucks lol but this is something I learned initially through Gretchen Ruben and the Happier podcast. But it’s a really simple, yet underutilized tool. When you need to get something done you countdown backwards from 5 and just do it. Usually that’s all you need. I’ve decided to take this approach to literally everything… including showering (I FUCKING HATE IT.) The theory is by the time you get to 1, your brain has shifted into the mindset to get done whatever needed to be done.
Kamasutra - by Mallinaga Vatsyayana
LOL so I know this is not of the normal books I read but I wanted to read it simply so I can say I did lol I do think that it is slightly outdated and a little Trad (which says something), but overall the biggest highlight is that sex and physical relations are one of the most important aspects of relationships and are so so so so so important!
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself - Dr. Joe Dispenza
I read this book because sometimes being me is really fucking difficult lol Turns out I just need to take all the skills I already have from years of overthinking and stuffing my emotions, and use them for good! Visualization, mental rehearsal, physical well being, are all keys to being the best, getting what you want, and becoming who you see yourself as. I know all of this stuff already but sometimes I’m dense and sometimes it takes someone else showing me for it to get through my thick skull!
The 5 AM club - Robin Sharma
The 5 am club is not new to me. In fact, I’ve been a member of the club a few different times over the past 12 years since leaving my parents house. I’ve always been one of the few who was down to train clients at 5/6 am. But when lucy was around 18months, I was in the 5 am club for a WHILE, as it was the ONLY time I got to myself before I passed out; as by the time I had put lu to bed, my brain was fried and I just wanted to go to bed. At that time, my job was hella toxic, I was both physically and mentally very ill. I honestly contribute the 5am club to me finally being able to begin pulling myself out of this awful hole I had been stuck in. I do think the author is a little delulu about the average person but it’s good general advice. I don’t feel the need to disrupt my current routine but that might change in the future!
The 5 Money Conversations to Have With Your Kids at Every Age and Stage: by Scott Palmer
Ok I finished this book. It wasn’t a Nobel Prize winner but it wasn’t awful either. Basically it boils down to this: just actually fucking talk about money with your kids. Learn their personal habits (Iz is a spender and a giver and Lu is also lol), and then have conversations with them about this. That is really the key… talk to them about it. My plan as the girls get older is to involve them in the budgeting, planning, and saving so they can understand how money works and be able to make decisions not just on emotion!
I also read all of these books but I’m getting Summary Fatigue lol I’m pretty sure you can tell what each book is about just on the title lol but just in case I included amazon links for you to read more about them should you want to!!!
Moving On
What am I listening to?
Audiobooks:
I just started this… I’ll let you all know how I feel about it next month but needless to say, Teighlor is getting another eviction once and for all!
Update…. still haven’t gotten any further lol
And this months On Repeat playlist from Spotify includes:
Yung Gravy, Judah & the Lion, Bryce Savage, Sueco, and like 30 other artists.
I think the 2 songs I’m most obsessed with right now is Love me Less by MAX and Quinn XCII and Next Ex by Sueco (Also do you know where his name came from? Drop a comment if you do, it’s kinda cool)
Love me Less is not only a brain tickling song, I feel very called by that song. I relate to it a lot and how I felt about sharing my secrets with D.
Next Ex is simply a dopamine song. I think a lot of Sueco’s songs end up as dopamine songs for me. He’s just that good with beats!
This is the specific playlist, that really hasn’t changed a whole lot lately.
What Have I been Watching?
We’ve been on a mini docuseries wave lately. We finished the WrestleMania one and HOLY shit that guy is a fucking creep. Like literally looking at him freaked me out. I could feel his icky energy THROUGH the TV. It’s pretty rare that I have that happen, but it was instant like my body was like:
God I love David lol he is just the perfect representative of my brain sometimes BAHAHAHA
We are working on the Aaron Hernandez series right now and WHOOOOO buddy. I have always been an ostrich to pop culture so I have no clue about any of this stuff. As someone who likes brains…. damn it’s fascinating. ALSO HE”S GAY! I think THAT was the biggest surprise out of it all. If you haven’t seen it… go watch it!
How’s the book going?
We’ve made another step in the right direction… but it kind of sucks. I learned that APPARENTLY we didn’t start our messenger group until JULY. So prior to that, all of my pocket friend message exchanges were done on snap. SOOOO I have to work through that download next. THANKFULLY, for all other books, I will have already sifted through all the data I needed to sift through and have it organized!
I’ve really only been editing lately. I want to have it out and published before the end of the year…. we shall see!
I think that’s all that happened in September…. I think lol
If you want to read something specific during these collections let me know! I’m happy to share literally anything!
Thanks for reading the Chaos
Much Love,
Taylor Cecelia Brook
P.S. Wanna make my day? Drop a comment, like, or share, it means the world to me!!!!
I’m currently reading Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself too! (It’s slow going though)
